Modlin's granary at golden hour
The vast Tsarist-era granary of Modlin Fortress glows in low evening light, its long brick facade and arched gateways mirrored in the still Narew River. Built in the 1840s where the Narew meets the Vistula north of Warsaw, the fortress is one of Poland's largest nineteenth-century military complexes. Warm raking light crosses the weathered red brick while a band of summer trees softens the waterline, and the glassy reflection doubles the monumental architecture into near-perfect symmetry.
