A canal church under the full moon
A neo-Renaissance brick church labeled Kerk glows with warm interior light reflected across a still Amsterdam canal in the blue hour of a May evening, the full moon just risen behind the building's stepped roofline. The church facade — arched windows, ornate gable, and sandstone detailing — is perfectly doubled in the dark water below, while the canal houses on either side define the narrow framing. A quality of absolute stillness marks the whole scene, the city briefly holding its breath between day and night.
