Three dried seedheads of greater burdock (Arctium lappa) cluster on their stem in soft light, each a perfectly formed sphere of hooked bracts tipped in gold at the residual stamens. The shallow field of a 105mm macro renders surrounding vegetation as layered warm and cool tones. Shot in the Grachtengordel in March 2020 with the Nikon D610, these burrs — the natural model for Velcro — are briefly beautiful before wind disperses them.
