Allium Seedhead Between Seasons

An ornamental allium (Allium sp.) seedhead transitions between states: the upper hemisphere still carries purple petal remnants around the developing green seed capsules, while the lower half has shed its petals to reveal the full radial geometry. Shot in Dordrecht Centrum in May 2024 with the Nikon Z 9 and MC 105mm macro, the grey-blue background bokeh isolates the globe's precise structure. Alliums are closely related to garlic and onion, their globular flowerheads beloved by pollinators.
