A herd of Icelandic horses grazes across a wide tan grass plain on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in west Iceland, dwarfed by the eroded basalt flank of a single long mountain that fills the right two-thirds of the frame. The cliff face shows vertical rain-cut grooves and capping cloud. The sky is the muted teal of a maritime autumn day.
