Julia Heliconian Hanging Beneath Leaf Amsterdam
Julia heliconian moments later, eye now visible, body shifted a fraction along the leaf vein. The species ranges from Texas through the Amazon basin and is one of the longest-lived butterflies on earth — six months or more in captivity, sustained by the same pollen-feeding behaviour seen in zebra longwings. Tropical greenhouse, Amsterdam.
