Pleasure Boat Amsterdam Canal Summer Evening

A dark-hulled open pleasure sloop motors away from the camera down a wide Amsterdam canal in the long evening light of summer, its wake barely disturbing the reflections of the trees and canal houses lining both banks. A second smaller boat is moored mid-canal while cyclists and cafe visitors crowd the right quayside. The muted blue of the overcast sky and the deep green of mature canal-side trees give the scene the characteristically subdued quality of a Dutch summer evening that never quite gets dark.
