A young conifer cone, cracked and green

An immature conifer cone — most likely Thuja or Cupressus — fills the frame with its cracked quadrangular top facet in warm bronze and amber. Shallow depth of field from a 105mm macro dissolves the surrounding needle foliage into a wash of blue-grey and green. Shot in March 2021 in the Netherlands with the Nikon D850, this close-up turns an overlooked natural detail into an abstract study in geometric texture and organic form.
