A sunflower's Fibonacci spiral

The disc centre of a sunflower (Helianthus annuus) fills the frame with its Fibonacci spiral of individual florets — each one a tiny trumpet of deep amber and chocolate brown at the outer ring, freshly opening toward the centre. Yellow ray petals fan out at the frame edges. Shot in June 2020 in the Netherlands with the Nikon D610 and 105mm macro, the image turns the familiar flower into a topographic landscape of botanical architecture.
